This wrap-up meeting on 4 October will review the achievements of the Republic of Korea (ROK)-United States (US) Mekong Collaboration, a capacity-building program to improve hydrologic and hydraulic decision support for the Mekong Basin. The program has delivered a series of online and face-to-face training events for government staff from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam, designed and coordinated by the Sustainable Infrastructure Program.
Previous training events took place in online in July 2021 and February 2022, and face-to-face in July 2022.
The convening members of ROK-US Mekong Collaboration are the US Department of State (US-DoS), the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pact Thailand, K-water, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the US National Aeronautical and Space Agency (NASA), as well as the Mekong River Commission and its member countries.
The wrap-up meeting will provide feedback from Mekong countries on the value of the program, and explore possibilities for future collaboration to address water resource issues in the Lower Mekong Region. The meeting is taking place ahead of the Korea-Mekong Water Forum on 5-6 October 2022 in Seoul.
