This two-day training workshop is part of a collaboration project for ‘Improved Hydrologic and Hydraulic Decision Support for the Mekong Basin,’ supported by the US, Republic of Korea and Lower Mekong countries.
This is the third round of training in this series and the first in-person training since the global COVID-19 pandemic. The event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the second of two consecutive modules in this round.
Participants will acquire the skills to access, process, reformat and correct earth observation remote sensing data for earth modeling, using two computer programs for earth observation developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) — NASAaccess and the Soil, Water and Assessment (SWAT) tool.
The NASA tools are used in conjunction with the US Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS system for water resource modeling. HEC-RAS was covered in the first module offered in Hanoi the previous week.
Dr Ibrahim Mohammed of NASA and Prof. Venkat Lakshmi of the University of Virginia will lead the training.
Participation in this training is being offered to those who completed the earlier workshops in this series, which took place in July 2021 and February 2022.
